There are several national banks in Ireland. Bank of Ireland has a facility on campus adjacent to the Atrium under the Dining Hall. The Bank of Ireland branch affiliated with TCD is located at 2 College Green, just outside Trinity’s main entrance. AIB has a dedicated student centre located in their branch at 40 to 41 Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2.
For students starting undergraduate courses, the banks generally offer incentives to open a student account at the start of the academic year.
To open any bank account, you are required by law to show valid proof of identity complete with photograph and proof of address. Proof of third-level (undergraduate) student status, such as a student card or letter from the College will also be required.
An Post - the Irish Post Office - also offers banking services as do many of the country's building societies.
